My work focuses on the circulation of information in the public sphere: disinformation and informational vulnerability, media coverage of environmental and health crises, and trust in science.
Recent projects and fieldwork
- Analysis of the use of AI tools by French-speaking journalists (IHECS/ORM research).
- Analysis of the media coverage of the 2024 Belgian federal election campaign.
- Analysis of the media coverage of climate change and its consequences in Belgium.
- Analysis of the diversity of journalists' profiles in Belgian newsrooms (ORM/AJP project).
- Development of Automémo, a platform for the automated collection and processing of large corpora of media data.
- Participation in the Belgian team of the Trust in Science and Science-Related Populism (TISP) Many Labs Studies, coordinated by Viktoria Cologna (Harvard University) and Niels G. Mede (University of Zurich) — trust in science, populism, conspiracy mentality (2022-2024).
- Foresight analysis of the management of future pandemics in Brussels from the angle of communication and health promotion (project funded by Innoviris, 2021-2024).
- Analysis of the social acceptability of smart home devices used to support the independent living of dependent older people (project funded by Innoviris, 2021-2023).
- Analysis of the "infodemic", disinformation and informational vulnerability linked to the Covid-19 pandemic (2019-2023).
Doctoral and postdoctoral supervision
- Supervision of the postdoctoral programme (2020-2024) of Zoltan Dujisin, now assistant professor at Corvinus University: Disinfo Expertise in the Media Cold War, carried out at the ORM/UCLouvain, funded by the FSR MoveIn programme and an FNRS CR grant.
- Supervision of the PhD of Charlotte de Condé (since 2024): analysis of the media coverage of formerly colonised countries in Belgium and France.
- Co-supervision, with Professor Jean De Munck, of the PhD of Li Yao (defended in 2025): Digital Public Sphere and Ordinary Knowledge in China. A Sociological Analysis of Two Public Controversies (Demographic and Epidemic Policies).
- Supervision of the doctoral Erasmus stay of Yaşar Şekerci (Galatasaray Üniversitesi), visiting PhD student at the ORM in 2022-2023.
- Member of the thesis support committees of Kevin Carillon, Ségolène Cardon and Basile Godtbil.
Responsibilities and scientific activities
- Director of the Observatory for Research on Media and Journalism (ORM) at UCLouvain.
- Academic head of the communication research cluster of the ILC Institute (UCLouvain).
- Scientific reviewer for the FNRS FRESH programme (Belgium) and for the ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases of INSERM (France).
- Member of the editorial boards of the journals Émulations — Revue de sciences sociales and Recherches en communication.
